Lenkewich to Speak on Utilization of Facility-Related Control Systems Data

President of Chinook Adds Building Commissioning Association’s Annual Conference to Lineup of Facility Data and Cybersecurity Presentations this Year

Arlington, Virginia, October 16, 2018 – Chinook Systems, Inc. (Chinook), a facilities engineering and commissioning services firm, announced today that Chinook President Wanda Lenkewich, CxA, LEED, AP, a respected facility engineering and management consultant, will present at the 2018 BCxA Conference, discussing the utilization and protection of facility-related control systems data. The conference officially kicks-off today and runs through tomorrow in Nashville, Tennessee at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center.

“Facility managers and commercial real estate property owners are eager for ways to leverage the data pulsing through their various control systems,” Lenkewich stated. “As a trusted source for objective analysis of building performance data, commissioning professionals are well-suited to introduce new tools and techniques.”

Lenkewich will present alongside Keith La Rose of CopperTree Analytics for the “Leveraging Data & Keeping it Safe – MBCx Applications & Data Security” session. Attendees will learn best practices for advanced energy analytics using regression analysis, normalization, benchmarking, and monitoring & targeting (M&T)—alongside fault detection & diagnostics (FDD) to identify opportunities for improved building performance. Lenkewich is also expected to include points involving cybersecurity for facility-related control systems.

“Interest in cybersecurity for control systems is growing rapidly,” said Chinook’s Cybersecurity Program Manager Gabriel Daniels. “Evidence of this interest can be seen in requests for Chinook to present at industry conferences domestically and internationally.”

Some of Chinook’s recent industry conference presentations this year include:

  • “Facility Related Cybersecurity Workforce Requirements & Credentialing,” discussing the unique hybrid of skills, credentialing and requirements needed by professionals in Facility-Related Cybersecurity (Lenkewich, 2018 Energy Exchange and Better Buildings Summit);
  • “Dancing with Risk Management Framework,” discussing trends in detection of information security breaches and structured approaches to manage risk within the Industrial Control Systems and Facility-Related Control Systems (Daniels, 2018 Energy Exchange and Better Buildings Summit);
  • “Operational Trends, Strategies, and Challenges for Data Centers,” discussing management through design, construction, commissioning services and cybersecurity for operational technology (Lenkewich, Enterprise Ireland’s Data Center Forum)

Chinook’s facilities engineering and commissioning services practices have long since had a strong data focus. Under Lenkewich’s leadership, the firm was an early proponent of integrating intelligent building systems and leveraging facility data through all phases of the facility lifecycle – notably through Chinook’s Quicx™ software platform.

“Utilizing facility data is central to our mission at Chinook. We are happy to be sharing with our commissioning colleagues new analytic insights, as well as perspectives about cybersecurity for operational technology,” Lenkewich explained. “We look forward to meeting with Commissioning firms at BCxA that don’t have in-house cybersecurity capabilities to discuss how we can partner to satisfy customer and project needs.”

Chinook will be at Booth #16 to discuss their full range of Facilities Engineering and Commissioning services, including Facility Data Analytics and CyberCxTM.
