Arlington, Virginia, February 8, 2017 – The Department of Defense (DoD), Washington Headquarters Services (WHS) recently awarded Chinook Systems Inc. (Chinook)—a multi-disciplinary facilities engineering firm and certified Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB)—a contract for Commissioning Specialist Services for $40 MM. The contract is expected to last five years and will be performed primarily in facilities and campuses throughout the National Capital Region, including the Pentagon.
The Pentagon’s real-time commissioning program will continue over the facility lifecycle. It integrates seamlessly with master planning, design and construction, code enforcement and configuration management. Additionally, operation and maintenance (O&M) initiatives such as computerized maintenance management, reliability-centered maintenance, facility condition assessments and post-occupancy evaluations contribute to sustainability, energy management, and CyberCx™.
WHS had originally placed the request for proposal (RFP) on April 6, 2016, focusing on utilizing small businesses under a single award using an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract methodology.
“We’re honored to be chosen once again to serve WHS in their mission to ensure owned and leased facilities operate efficiently, are maintainable and provide a safe and code compliant work environment for DoD personnel,” said Chinook President Wanda Lenkewich. “Our firm has successfully supported the Pentagon over the last five (5) years in delivering lifecycle energy security solutions which have led to increased efficiencies, lower energy consumption and reduced overall cost of operations. We’ll continue to lead and champion this effort and provide the innovation and expertise that WHS’s come to expect from Chinook.”
Chinook has a long-standing history of providing best in class services for federal facilities. Chinook’s deep federal project roster includes agencies such as, the Army, Navy, NASA, Veterans Affairs, Coast Guard, General Services Administration, and United States Postal Service.
“The Clients who have come to know and trust Chinook are those who value transparency, expect solid technical processes, and recognize that having real-time access to complete and accurate facility records is critical to mitigating risk and successful capital planning,” added Lenkewich. “Many of our government and mission critical clients such as healthcare and higher education have implemented our Quicx™ software as a tool to manage the complete lifecycle of design, construction, commissioning and facility management – all in one system. This provides additional security, eliminates the need for redundancy or multiple hand-offs of information, and strengthens the relationships between team members, departments and firms involved in project delivery.”
